While I’ve gotten much better at saying no to things that simply don’t suit me (and not feeling guilty about it), every once in a while an opportunity arises and, though timing may not exactly be perfect, it’s simply too good to pass up. I’m not sure if this is the worst decision I’ve ever made for myself, or potentially the very best, but I’m erring on the side of the latter because – you know – eternal optimist and all that jazz. I’m excited to announce that I’m going to be participating in this season’s One Room Challenge for the first time ever. For those of you who haven’t heard of the ORC, it’s essentially a blogging challenge wherein you fully redesign one room of your home in six weeks (all while documenting the process along the way).
After mulling it over with Justin, we decided that we would be tackling our living room. It’s one of the first rooms you see when you walk into our home, and it’s not exactly the worst, but we literally plunked all of our condo furniture within it the day we moved and haven’t touched a thing since. It’s a space that isn’t utilized to its best possibility, the existing state is frumpy and lackluster, and I’ve been dying to get my hands on it since the day we got the keys.
We’ve already started planning and scheming, a few items are currently en route, and I will be sure to share every last little bit of information with you guys every Wednesday as we go. But before I do, I thought it’d be fun to start with where we’re at in terms of inspiration.
The vibe: casual elegance. Clean lines, timeless silhouettes, and just a little bit of oomph as a nod to the Victorian bones we’re blessed with. Stay tuned in the coming weeks – and definitely check out the rest of the participants (below).
