I’m going to be off on maternity leave for the entirety of the summer and to say I’m excited would be the understatement of the century (for future reference: having a spring baby is a genius idea!) While I know full well that mat leave is not a vacation, and I do still plan on keeping up with this here blog as regularly as possible, I’ve had a job each and every summer since I was fifteen years old. Needless to say, I’ve had visions of lake hangs and bonfires swirling through my head for some time now, and I can’t wait to introduce this sweet soul to the art of the Canadian summer. And this incredible cottage, sitting on Canada’s most sought after lake, and designed by none other than Muskoka Living (of course!), is most certainly helping.

I lived on Lake Simcoe several years ago, so I’m familiar with the area. On the weekends hwy 400 would be bumper to bumper with cottagers. The above cottage is beautiful, sitting just above the water. I don’t like the dark grey fireplaces though. They seem overbearing in a light bright home on the water. Plus, they are a permanent structure in an already fading trendy colour.
Enjoy the summer off and your new little one! We’ll look for your occasional post.
Such a dreamy cottage. It feels very summer-y and very airy. I do like how they kept it modern by using black as a contrast. I love those fireplaces standing out.
