Our sweet Ivy girl turned a month old last week, and it has somehow been both the longest and the shortest month of our lives. Time is such a trip right now! While it goes without saying that adjusting to the lack of sleep and getting to know this tiny little human has been met with its challenges (those first couple of weeks are no joke!), we’ve really been finding our stride recently and those moments of overwhelm are becoming much fewer and farther between.
While my heart aches that her newborn-ness is becoming but a memory, it’s such a joy to witness her little personality begin to unfold. So far we know she’s a little impatient (Justin!), a little dramatic (oh, hi!), and incredibly determined. And though this girl already seems to know exactly what she wants, exactly when she wants it, she has this incredibly calming and peaceful presence that’s hard to describe. I already know she’s going to be a force to be reckoned with, and it’s my greatest honour to be a firsthand witness. While it doesn’t seem physically possible, she makes it easy to fall more in love with her every hour of every day.
We’re often asked how we’re doing considering the landscape that’s happening outside our four walls. And while having a baby during a pandemic has been a little more challenging, I’ve been focusing solely on all of the silver linings. Our family and friends have loved on us so fiercely from afar, which has been so wonderful. Having Justin home with me is an incredible gift we wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. And the introvert within me has relished this quiet alone time as we adjust to becoming a family of three. I’m convinced it has made the whole transition a lot more seamless for us, and definitely plan on implementing some sort of quarantine of sorts for all future babies.
We’ve been feeling all of your love, and we are incredibly grateful. Here are a few moments from our first month together.

I LOVE the photos of hubby holding her outstretched in his hands against the background of the wall. I hope you do it every month and then each year until Brian cannot hold her anymore. You can really see the changes, and they are precious and delightful. Thanks for sharing. It made for a happy feeling in a world that is so confusing right now. Babies are like a dose of hope. Best to you.
Continued blessings on your family!

The longest and the shortest – that exactly sums it up. Welcome to parenthood! That exactly sums it up. How has the poochie adapted?
