A friend of mine posted an instagram story the other day that really made everything click for me. It read: “if you’re tired learn to rest, not to quit”. And while it seems so glaringly obvious now, it instantly put a whole lot into perspective for me. I am forever grateful for my this little corner of the internet, and for you for coming back to visit time and again. But it’s been a very (very) busy few years and you guys? I’m tired. For the first time in almost a decade, I’ve decided that I’m going to take a *real* break, starting with our upcoming trip to London, Cornwall & Paris. That’s right, no instagram, no blogging, no emails*, nada, for the entire time we’re gone. And while this admittedly makes me feel a little sad (I’ve brought you guys along on every single one of these trips since the start!), I’m really looking forward to truly hitting that reset button.
In light of full discretion… I’ve been feeling a little lost in the landscape that is the online world. It has changed so dramatically since I began ten years ago, and I’m not entirely sure where I fit in these days. While I still adore sharing and connecting with you, which is why I don’t see myself going anywhere any time soon, I am feeling an undeniable pull to shake things up a little around here, and I’m hoping that a little distance will help shed some light on what that might look like.
In the meantime, I wanted to follow up with round two of my packing post with what I’m planning on tucking away for our Parisienne leg of our trip. Here’s what I’m packing for Paris, and I’ll “see” you in a couple of short weeks!
*I actually plan on deleting the gmail app from my phone entirely. Eep!
