I’m not going to lie, life has been absolutely insane lately and I am a whole new level of exhausted right now, but I’m secretly here for all of it.

First and foremost, we’re loving our temporary living situation. I’m certain that a big chunk of it is just the novelty of it all, but we are thoroughly enjoying this downtown Toronto experience. As a homebody at heart I wasn’t sure I’d feel all that settled outside of my normal “routine” and environment. But with a toddler in tow, I’ve found that it has been so much fun. Ivy is apparently a city girl herself, which is likely a large part of why I’m enjoying it so much. Our girl is just thriving right now and it’s such a joy to experience. We’ve been park hoping, brunching, coffee shopping, restaurant hopping, smoothie hunting, squirrel chasing, swimming, pumpkin patching, baby snuggling… It’s been fantastic! So much so that for a while there I was trying to convince Justin that maybe we should sell our home and try the downtown Toronto adventure for a few years. He’s not convinced (and I’m beginning to miss our home and the quieter pace of life) but we’ll see where this adventure continues to take us.

In addition, we recently welcomed a new little squish into our lives. My brother and sister in law had a sweet baby girl just the other day, and if that’s not reason to celebrate I just don’t know what is. Plus, my nomadic little sister is now here visiting for the occasion, which is the loveliest. I’m feeling very grateful for this particular season and wanted to share a few snapshots that make me happy to help commemorate all of it <3

{The cutest hot cocoa truck near Rockefellar Center}

You guys, after 8 years of posting a “Scenes from my Week” post virtually every Friday, I’m sad to announce that this will be the last one (I can’t help but feel like it’s the end of an era of sorts). But the reality is that… I’m finding so much joy on Instagram (and Instagram stories) these days, and lately I’ve been finding this series to be a little redundant. Instead, going forward, I’ll be focusing most of my “behind the scenes” attention onto Instagram stories, so please do follow along over there if you aren’t already (my username is larkandlinen)! I have so much fun over there.

For those of you who’ve been supportive of this particular column for years now, please don’t worry, I won’t be disappearing entirely. I will absolutely be popping in every now and again with more in depth, more personal posts, they just won’t be as regular as this one has been over the years. I’m actually hoping that this will give me the bandwidth to really dive deep into topics and personal posts I’ve long wanted to share.

In the meantime, I wanted to wish you all the most wonderful holiday. I’m going to be taking a bit of a break to really soak in all of that family love (our nieces and nephew are at SUCH a fun age this Christmas – I seriously can’t wait!) And while I know I go on and on about the holidays each year, I know that they aren’t always easy for everyone. So if you are feeling a little blue this season, or are needing a little extra love and tenderness right now, please know that you’re in my heart and I’ll be sending all of the good vibes I own your way.

As always, for one last time, a quick peek at my last week in photos.

So much love, and lots of wonderful things for the year to come,
Jacquelyn & the Lark & Linen Team

We’ve officially entered my favourite time of year – that brief moment between Halloween and Christmas when the holiday excitement is beginning to bubble, but everything still feels quiet and still. And while things haven’t technically been all that slow around here lately, what with a trip to Montreal and a million things coming to fruition on all of my design jobs, I’m still feeling very peaceful these days. And while I’m well aware that life is all about those ebbs and flows and anything can change in an instant, lately I feel like I’ve really figured out when I need to say no, and it has served me (and my anxiety) so well. The lessened load, in addition to my seriously reduced anxiety, has also freed up so much more time for family and friends, which I’m so grateful for. I’m hoping to channel these good vibes into the weeks and months ahead, and hope you’ll join me!

I don’t know what the universe is trying to tell me this week, but you guys it’s been something. And while I am incredibly grateful that nothing truly horrific happened, it’s just been one of those weeks where every seemingly minuscule thing that could go wrong, has. From battling for hours with FedEX over a massive error on their part (that may unfairly cost me $750, a story for another time…), to my drafting program crashing hours before a set of drawings were due, to the wrong tiles being delivered to a client on a time crunch, and beyond… How does that saying go? When it rains it pours? At any rate, nobody died, everyone is healthy, and it could always be worse (and repeat)! Justin and I are sneaking out early today to celebrate my nephews 1st birthday in Montreal, and I’m really looking forward to hit the reset button and take a little break . In the meantime, I hope you all have a wonderful one! Here’s a peek at the better parts of my week, in photos…
