Musikgarten Policies

Please try to be on time. If you arrive late, please join the class as quietly as possible.

Dress for "moving and dancing!" Dress in layers. This is a very active class!

Have your child(ren) wear shoes that are easy to take off and put on. We remove footwear during class.

Please leave all shoes, purses, diaper bags, and other belongings in the designated area outside of the classroom. Your items will be in a safe location and keeping them out of the main classroom helps minimize distractions during class.

Food, toys or other "distractions" often cause problems rather than provide comfort when brought into music class. Since another child might want your child's drink or stuffed animal, it is often easier to leave those things at home or in the car.

Please silence your electronic items and leave them in your pocket or bag during class. Children are easily distracted and seeing you use your phone or other wireless device during class quickly steals focus from the activities at hand. We want this to be a fun bonding time for you and your child!

Help your child focus on each activity by focusing on the activities yourself. Your child will learn best by seeing you model each activity, whether it is singing, dancing, listening, speaking, or playing instruments.

Try to keep verbal instructions to a minimum and just demonstrate what your child should be doing. Extraneous talking breaks focus during class and we want to teach your child listening and observation skills as well as musical skills!

Feel free to leave the classroom briefly if “difficult moments” occur. Because these are classes geared towards young children, it is perfectly normal to see children give voice to their frustrations at times. If your child is upset or you need a moment to talk to them about behavior, please use the adjoining room to do so. This gives your child the space to calm down and allows the class to continue without loud disruptions. You can rejoin class activities as soon as you feel your child is ready to do so.

Play with the home materials during the week! Repetition is the number one way that children learn, so the more they repeat an activity, the more comfortable they will be joining in that activity during class, as well as receiving optimal music, language, or movement benefits from the activity.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

  • Entire fee amount paid at first class
  • 50% of fees paid at first class, 50% paid one month later

For families who join after the first week of class each semester, the tuition will be pro-rated based on the remaining amount of weeks left in the class.

Checks can be made out to: Larksong Studio.

Cost for siblings: A 20% discount for tuition will be applied to siblings who are in the same class based on age (i.e., a 1.5-year old and 3-year old would both be in Family Music for Toddlers together). A 10% discount for tuition will be applied to the second or subsequent siblings in separate classes (i.e., one is in Family Music for Toddlers, and one is in Family Music for Babies). Material costs for siblings in the same class will vary based on the class. You only need one book/CD to share between your children but may need an extra instrument set so each child has one.

Refer a friend discount: If a friend you referred signs up for a class, you both receive a $10 tuition discount!

Military Discount: Families of active military members get a 10% discount off tuition! Discount covers tuition only and is only valid for immediate family members of active duty personnel. Contact us for details or if you have any questions.

WEATHER

If public school is closed due to bad weather, we will also be closed. If public school is operating on a delayed schedule, we will be open and classes will run on their regular schedule.

OBSERVATIONS

Understand that all children learn at different rates and in different ways. Some children will be quiet in class, others will be active. Some children will do everything perfectly at home, but not in class. As a parent, you know that every child is unique, so check your comparisons at the door, and let the music work its magic!
