I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am to be revealing our brand new kitchen in it’s entirety. I feel like I’ve talked ad nauseam about the ins and outs and behind the scenes of our kitchen renovation. So it feels next level lovely to be sharing the final photos at long last. I’ve been referring to it as a kitchen with character, and I’m loving every inch of it.
If you’ve been a reader for any length of time, you’re likely well aware of the back and forth we’ve gone through when it came to renovating our home. We weren’t sure we felt like undergoing a major renovation, financially, emotionally and metally (largely mentally), because we weren’t sure how much longer we’d live here. But I’m here to tell you that pulling the trigger was the best decision we’ve made. So if you’re on the fence, let this be your sign to go for it. I secretly wish we had just done it ages ago.
Though renovations aren’t exactly an enjoyable process at times, I’m coming up short when trying to put into words how it feels to be using our kitchen now that it’s complete. To be frank: this renovation has completely changed the energy of our home – perhaps even our lives. I actually didn’t realize how many small daily annoyances our old kitchen possessed until they were no longer an issue. It has been a process, there’s no question, but it has been worth every potential grey hair along the way.
Our new kitchen has since become our favourite spot in our home. Aesthetically, there’s no question that the upgrade has been profound (the art, from this talented local artist, is currently stealing the show for me). But, functionally, life has gotten significantly better too. Proper lighting, level floors (remember this? ha), drawers that glide like a dream, appliances that work exactly as they’re supposed to… A kitchen sink that fits multiple pots and pans at a time (I’m convinced I could bathe in this thing I swear), dreamy hardware that feels luxe to the touch… A seamless backsplash that can be wiped down in a split second… Transforming this space from one that gets the job done, into one that feels like a haven is a result of all of these beautiful details.
I find myself cooking more frequently. The urge to bake has exploded exponentially. And the little nook has already been home to some of life’s best memories. Plus, I love that we haven’t gotten rid of the the 130 year old character that’s been innate to our home. It’s all been so great, and I’m excited to finally be able to share the results.

Definitely worth the wait! It’s beautiful!
Thank you so much <3
What was the cost of the hood? We are working on a design and getting estimates. Really like your simple timeless design
Thank you thank you! The hood was lumped into the cabinet quote so I don’t know exactly how much it was individually, I’m sorry!
Really, really beautiful. It has been fun following along during the process. The cabinets at the ceiling are such a special detail. as is the window seat. Curious about your thought process about not going with a cabinet front dishwasher?
Thank you for the love! I have thoughts on this – touching on it in an upcoming post :)
Looks lovely! I especially love the little nook. I’m wondering why you didn’t build the dishwasher in/incorporate it into the cabinetry?
Sharing more about this soon – it’s a regret for sure!
This is absolutely stunning! I love that you maintained the character, but with a face lift! I have a similar ‘before’ kitchen right now, and this gives me so much inspiration!
I’m so glad. Thank you for the love!
I’m so glad :)
We started our remodel last week so i know what you went through. ugh. What a mess. My husband has ripped out a closet, boxed in pipes, changed light fixtures, rewired and moved outlets and has taken our some cabinets. Every day is a new, messy adventure!
Your new kitchen is beautiful!
hahaha it’s such a trip isn’t it? It will be worth it, promise!
Such a lovely streamlined refresh! I can just see/feel the new energy of the space. I wish you many happy memories! 🫶🌼🥰🥂🍾
Thank you so so much – I’m so glad that came through. It does feel COMPLETELY different in here
What a great article. I love your cabinets. The color is to die for. I’m trying to get a fresh cabinet door replacement soon in my own place, and seeing your design was really helpful to me. Thanks for sharing!
I’m so glad! Thanks for the love
Love your new kitchen. The cabinets are beautiful. I am wondering how you access the small upper cabinets. Love the doors.. would love information about them.
Those house things that I don’t use daily (vases, my grandmother’s fine china, etc…) I just pull out my step ladder when in need
This is excellent!! I know it’s literally your job really nail space planning but holy cow this is such a better use of space than it was before!! I love the recessed wall of cabinetry before your dishwasher run, it makes so so much sense! Beautiful space, I bet finally having such a wonderful/workable space feels so great :D

I love how you emphasize the importance of incorporating personal touches into the design, such as family heirlooms or meaningful art pieces. These elements really add depth and personality to the space and make it feel more like a home.
Your use of bold colors and patterns in the kitchen is also very refreshing and adds a playful element to the space. It’s great to see designers taking risks and thinking outside the box when it comes to kitchen design.
